Chocolate is by definition a typically sweet, usually brown food preparation of roasted and ground cacao seeds. It is usually made in the form of a block, paste or liquid or it can be used as flavouring ingredient in other foods. Chocolate is one of the most popular flavours in the world today so it is not a surprise that it is a starring ingredient in many indulgent dishes like cakes, puddings, mousses, brownies, cookies,... Chocolate is also used in cold and hot beverages such as chocolate milk and hot / cold chocolate and in some alcoholic drinks, such as creme de cacao, Mozart liquor or Bertrand Liquor. Several types of chocolate can generally be distinguished as milk, dark, white or unsweetened (baking) chocolate. The healthiest of the above types of chocolate is the dark one since it contains the highest percentage of cocoa solids. Dark chocolate also has several health benefits like cancer prevention, improved heart health and better cognitive function. Chocolate itself is usually unhealthy, but we can achieve healthy sweet chocolatey taste with a bit of creativity in the kitchen. Check out our favourite chocolate recipes that do exactly that 😍
